Trevor's story: 25 pounds lost and abs at 42 for the first time in 23 years on a plant based diet

October 27, 2026•2 min read

Trevor, a Mavy Wellness client, lost 25.4 pounds in about four and a half months at 42 and saw visible abs for the first time since he was 19. He had already lost about 40 pounds on his own but had plateaued and stopped going to the gym after months without results.

Where he started: Trevor weighed about 180 pounds at 5'7", rarely cooked, worked irregular hours, and felt defeated by unstructured gym sessions.

What changed:

  • A structured plan. Shorter, more efficient workouts with built in progression.

  • Learning to cook. Recipes that became second nature within weeks.

  • Patience with the scale. Trusting photos when his weight stalled.

  • Water and routine for hunger.

  • Ten minutes of meditation, four days a week.

Life now: Trevor has abs at 42, feels more confident, and is planning his first sprint triathlon. "Trust the process." He shared his story on the Forever Fit Podcast.

What the research says. A 2019 NIH study found that people ate about 500 more calories a day on an ultra-processed diet than on an unprocessed one, without trying to. [1] A 2018 review of 49 studies in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that protein helps resistance training build muscle, with the benefit leveling off around 1.6 grams per kilogram of body weight a day. "As a physician, I deeply appreciate the strategic, nuanced approach of his 5-Phase Blueprint. The emphasis on reverse dieting is brilliant."

Angie Sadeghi, MD, Gastroenterologist and Plant-Based Health Expert, on Forever Fit
